After their bid to acquire Groupon was rejected by the company, dot com giant Google is now soon to roll out their own version of the deal-of-the-day website. Named “Google Offers,” this service gives clients a new way to reach customers, sending them a daily email with special offers. Subscribers can pre-purchase products and services from their local businesses at discounted prices. They then may bring a customized bar code (by print or mobile) to the store to redeem their purchase. By using pre-pay, this offers consumers a convenience, and businesses an added incentive to participate in the program.
The service is currently in a beta stage, and Google is reportedly trying to attract support from small businesses.
