Apple’s App Store, founded in July of 2008, has today reached a milestone: 10,000,000,000 downloads of software. The fact that the apps are exclusively sold/distributed for Apple’s iPhones, iPods, and iPads only makes the landmark more impressive.
Apple also will soon award the prize of a $10,000 iTunes gift card to the 10 billionth downloader, who’s identity has not yet been revealed.
This milestone has significance beyond being another major success for the Apple Corporation. It is a clear indication that personal technology users are increasingly choosing small, mobile devices for their common computing needs.
