LibreOffice Reaches Version 3.3 With Big Changes

libreofficeThis is the first official release of the Office suite that began as a fork of the project.  New features include the ability save documents in Microsoft’s DOCx format (compatible with the latest version of Microsoft Office) and an improved graphical user interface.

LibreOffice, like its predecessor OpenOffice, is a free and open source document management tool similar to MS Office.  Besides being 100% free of charge, advantages of Microsoft Office include compatibility with Linux operating system, as well as a wide range of other commercial document formats.

One of the biggest complaints of such free alternatives is an unfamiliar and/or buggy interface.  This release of LibreOffice hopes to overcome such criticism.
